17.12.2009 - New factory fully equipped for manufacture of high-torque wrenches
After a 10-month construction phase, Lösomat GmbH, a member of the GEDORE Group, moved to new premises in Vaihingen/Enz in July 2009. Due to its market success and bulging order book, the company had outgrown its office and production centre in the “Fuchsloch” industrial district, so Lösomat found a perfect new site on a 7,600 sq. m plot in the “Perfekter Standort” [Perfect Location] Industrial Park.
Marc Gareis, Managing Director of Lösomat GmbH, said: “Once it became clear that we were on the brink of a huge expansion, we needed to think seriously about our production facilities.” Having joined the GEDORE Group in early 2008, Lösomat had no trouble in finding partners inside the Group to furnish and equip the new facility. Remscheid-based GEDORE Werkzeugfabrik supplies high-quality, rugged, durable tool trolleys and workbenches, while Förderstedt-based Metec GmbH specializes in workshop equipment, particularly focusing on custom solutions – grouped together in the Solutions brand. Both companies manufacture in Germany.
To meet Lösomat’s individual requirements, Metec Metallwarentechnik GmbH was able to run a pilot project for individual workstation design. While the building shell was still going up, Metec was on site, establishing the requirements for workstation equipment.
Together with his designer, Metec Commercial Director Thomas Nickel gathered on-site impressions and noted the specifications and wishes of the Lösomat employees. One of the key demands was for different working heights of the individual workstations in the workshop. During the construction phase, decisions were also made with the customer where electric sockets and compressed air connections needed to be installed.
Several hundred square metres of working space were accurately surveyed by the planning team before the designers submitted interior fitting proposals in the form of 2D and 3D drawings, developed using a space planning application with HICAD computer-aided design. Metec also drew up plans for the tradesmen, showing the positions and routes of the various ducts, cables and pipes. After final agreement with Lösomat, the installation was completed in just 3 days with the company’s own installation team.
In the production area, workstations were set up for assembly, the calibration room, work preparation and development, together with an electronic lab. Detailed solutions were provided to ensure full utilization of every nook and cranny. For example, waste bins were integrated at every square corner of the workbenches to allow waste to be removed directly from the assembly and work surfaces. The offices were equipped with plenty of conference tables, base cabinets, furniture with adequate storage space and cloakroom facilities. The Metec team delivered the interior equipment programme – from planning to completion – in just two months.
The employees in Vaihingen are extremely pleased with the high quality and ergonomics of the new workstations, that leave nothing to be desired in terms of clear structure, fast access and secure storage of tools.
Additional information:
Metec provides nine different drawer depths for its drawer and under-mounting cabinet units and its workbenches. These are enhanced by a range of pedestals for individual adjustment of the workstation height. The work surfaces are currently available in three different materials in three different thicknesses. Virtually any colour imaginable is available – Metec produces in every standard RAL colour. Manufactured from steel sheet, the Metec products are extremely sturdy and durable – “German-made” quality.
